Our Values Statement

We believe that as unique and deserving individuals, our clients are entitled to the highest quality of care.  The following values are both our foundation and our guiding light as we strive to care for mothers and their families.

  • We value personal responsibility, and respect and support our clients’ rights to make choices about what they deem best for themselves.
  • We value pregnancy and birth as a healthy and natural physical, emotional, psychological, social and spiritual life event.
  • We value informed choice, and provide our clients with fair and unbiased information.
  • We value privacy, and maintain the confidentiality of client information.
  • We value non-judgmental care, and care for our clients without prejudice against age, race, religion, culture, marital status, sexual orientation, physical abilities or socioeconomic background.
  • We value justice, and offer our services to all women, regardless of their ability to pay.
  • We value the potential of partners, family and community to support women in all aspects of birth and mothering.  We also value women's right to conceive, give birth, and parent independently, and we support the lone mothers in our community.
  • We value the uniqueness of every individual, and provide individualized care for our clients.
  • We value the broadening of resources, and provide our clients with information to identify and meet their goals.
  • We value compassion, and treat our clients with consideration and kindness.
  • We value the expertise of other caregivers, and provide referrals whenever necessary.
  • We support the World Health Organization's Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes in word and in deed.  However we also value parents' abilities to make informed choices for their families, and support our clients in whichever way they choose to feed their children.
  • We believe in caring for ourselves so that we will be able to offer the quality of care that our clients deserve. As such, we value the heath of our collective, and in the following ways commit to nurturing the collective, and ourselves within it.

    • We value our group, and use a consensus form of decision-making.
    • We value respect, and strive to respect each other.
    • We value honesty, and strive to communicate openly and honestly.
    • We value ourselves as unique, and support our right to make choices regarding all aspects of our lives.
    • We value collaboration, and commit to sharing our resources.
    • We value education, and commit to our continued education for our personal growth and in the interest of providing the best possible care for our clients.
    • We value compassion, and treat each other with consideration and kindness.
    • We value diversity, and celebrate our differences, our talents and our weaknesses without prejudice against age, race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, marital status, physical abilities or socioeconomic background.
    • We value relationship, and support each other in our struggles and successes both personally and professionally.
