       If your yearly income is less than $32 000 and you live in Manitoba, you can receive a monthly cheque to help you eat well during your pregnancy. Also offered are friendly and informal community support programs.

La Leche League Canada offers mother-to-mother breastfeeding information, support and resources. LLLC also provides breastfeeding information, support and resources through a specialty catalogue, educational opportunities for volunteers and health professionals, community partnerships and special events.

Midwives believe pregnancy and childbirth are normal and healthy states for most women. We recognize that pregnancy and birth affect a women and her family deeply and in many different ways, and we take the time to get to know you through the course of the thorough pre-natal care we provide. A recent law makes midwives independent and regulated care providers available to Manitoba women for home and hospital births. Midwives’ services are covered by Manitoba Health.

The three acute care sites of the Women’s Health Program (Health Sciences Centre, Victoria General Hospital, St. Boniface General) provide care to pregnant women and families through labour, delivery, postpartum. We also offer a variety of services related to women’s health and newborn care.

Youville Centre is a Community Health Resource Centre with sites in St Boniface and St Vital. The Y-Neighbors is a program offered by YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg designed to give women at home with young children an opportunity to meet with other moms in their community for conversation, support, and a variety of speakers and activities.
