Prenatal Birthing Class

Having a baby is a wonderful yet bewildering experience. Most parents are excited about bringing their baby into the world, but are also faced with many unfamiliar questions and uncertainties. Parents who have already had a child have the dual task of updating their knowledge while learning from their past birth experience and setting new goals for the birth ahead.

Through our exciting and interactive classes, Birth Roots Doula Collective Inc. will teach you to discover and draw upon your own strengths, abilities, and capacity to give birth with confidence. Our classes emphasize the uniqueness of each woman’s life experience and how it impacts her labour and birthing process.

Our goal is for you to have the best birth you can, however you define it.

Our teaching philosophy is to tailor each class to parents’ unique needs and circumstances. A typical series will cover topics such as:

• The birth process
• Building a pain-coping mindset
• Medical interventions
• Giving birth by Cesarean
• Effective communication with your caregiver
• Special instructions for fathers and birth partners
• Feeding baby

Our classes are participation-oriented, which helps parents understand the knowledge in the context of their unique lives. As well, parents are taught to build a pain-coping mindset to integrate into daily life, rather than "dust-off" for labour. Most importantly, our classes are fun, engaging, and entertaining.

Birth Roots Doula Collective Inc. offers many different Class Options, including a Weeknight Series, a Week-End Series and Private Classes .

We encourage you to bring your support person to the classes with you.

We recommend that you finish your prenatal education about one month before your due date.

Please Note

Class size is limited, which allows for group interaction and collective learning, while ensuring ample individualized attention. This class includes the attendance of a partner. All of our classes include a free copy of Prepared Childbirth the Family Way Work Book.
